Usain Bolt plumps for Cristiano

It is no news that the fastest man on the planet is a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo. Usain Bolt stated it again to the Portuguese radio station RTP and said that, in his opinion, CR7 is more complete than Messi.

Ronaldo's sadness proves contagious for Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo's misery proves contagious as Real Madrid slump to 1-0 defeat against Sevilla

Cristiano Ronaldo cut a lonely figure on the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan turf Saturday night.
Real Madrid had just slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Sevilla, and the La Liga champions had lost more ground to Barcelona just four games into the season.
Jose Mourinho's side now find themselves eight points off the pace, and the Real Madrid boss is not happy.

WWE Night of Champions: Will John Cena's New Gear Have Any Impact on His Match?

Yes, matches in the WWE are scripted, but even so, there is no denying that sometimes certain unpredictable elements join forces to change the WWE's original intended plans.
Take Daniel Bryan and Kane. Despite the fact that the two men were expected to wrestle against each other at Night of Champions, they now find themselves in a tag-team match in which they'll be partners, all due to the unforeseen popularity of their recent "hugging it out" match.
Layla vs. Kaitlyn, on the other hand, is another example of the WWE doing their best to right a wrong, after the wrong diva went over the ropes at a battle royal set to determine the No. 1 contender.
Things happen. It is a fact with which the WWE constantly has to deal—perhaps most seriously this past Monday after Jerry Lawler's heart attack.
That being said, could John Cena's new shirt have some unforeseen effect in his match against CM Punk tonight?
Yes, the move to change his shirt from a Boston Celtics-inspired green (first seen during Cena's match against the Rock at WrestleMania 28) to a black-and-pink "Rise Above the Cancer" shirt (worn in honor of the upcoming October Breast Cancer Awareness month via the Boston Herald) is a deliberate one, but it still stands that since tonight's match will be on Cena's  "home turf" that his babyface actions may have an unforeseen response.
Could tonight be the night, when donning a pink shirt (the first time Cena's ever worn the color), that Boston's native son wins the big one again? Perhaps.
More likely, however, the effect of Cena's shirt will not be on Cena himself, but on his rival CM Punk.
Though CM Punk's heel turn started at Raw 1000, the Chicago native has yet to establish himself as a full-fledged heel.
Enter the pink shirt.
While it may be difficult to hate a man who wears a pink shirt in honor of breast cancer awareness, it is really easy to hate one who mocks what the color stands for.
Though Punk regularly wears pink (some may remember his indy days when he sported a "real men wear pink" shirt), without a doubt Cena's new gear will be used to fuel his feud against Cena
Punk needs a hook, even if it is a cheap one, to be seen as a heel, and this may just be it..

Real Madrid loses at Sevilla, Barca routs Getafe

BARCELONA, Spain: Sevilla struck early and held on to deal Real Madrid a 1-0 loss as the defending Spanish champions fell eight points behind pacesetter Barcelona on Saturday.

A short-handed Barcelona, meanwhile, routed Getafe 4-1 as Lionel Messi went on with half an hour to play and added to Adriano’s opener with a pair of goals before David Villa netted to keep them perfect in league play.

Madrid, which has won just once in four rounds, was unsettled at the start at Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium and Piotr Trochowski capitalized to score from a corner two minutes in, breaking Sevilla’s streak of seven straight defeats to Madrid.

Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was scathing of his players after their second league loss.

“We got what we deserved after a horrible game,” said Mourinho, who will have to find some quick answers before their Champions League opener against Manchester City in just three days.

“My players’ heads are not focused, for many of them football is not a priority. But I am the coach, and if there are heads that are not focused it is my fault.

“I am not worried about the points, my worry is that I don’t have a team.”

All eyes were on Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo to see if he would again refuse to celebrate his goals in a display of his unexplained displeasure with his club.

But Sevilla’s defense made sure the Portugal forward never got the chance to show his “sadness” with another glum display.

Mourinho denied that Ronaldo’s enigmatic comments in the last round about not being happy at Madrid, which have sparked speculation that he is seeking a new contract or even a transfer, had rattled his squad.

“No, I don’t think so. This game wasn’t very different from the other games,” he said. “Therefore I don’t think it has any relation with the rumor of the last two weeks.”

Madrid was unnerved from the start and left Trochowski free to charge into the area and blast Ivan Rakitic’s cross into the top of the net.

Mourinho shuffled his lineup at halftime with Luka Modric and Karim Benzema going on.

“At halftime I changed two players, but I wanted to change seven,” Mourinho said.

Modric made his presence felt with a long-range strike that goalkeeper Andres Palop grazed just enough to alter its trajectory and send it crashing off the upright.

But Madrid’s apparent renewal turned into a mirage as it again stalled in attack down the stretch.

Also, Valencia beat Celta Vigo 2-1 and Malaga downed Levante 3-1 before their respective Champions League openers against Bayern Munich and Zenit St. Petersburg.

Messi started the game in southern Madrid on the bench with Barcelona’s own Champions League opener against Spartak Moscow set for Wednesday, adding to the void left by the injured Iniesta, Alexis Sanchez and Jordi Alba.

But Cesc Fabregas got Barcelona rolling in the 32nd when he carried into the area and laid off for Adriano to score in his second straight game following the Brazilian defender’s winner last round.

Barcelona’s injury problems continued to grow, however, when Carles Puyol was substituted in the 57th after hurting his left knee.

Messi went on in the 59th and put the result beyond doubt.

The star forward converted a spot kick in the 74th after Pedro Rodriguez was tripped in the area, and four minutes later Messi tapped in a cross by Martin Montoya to take his league-leading tally to six goals.

Getafe got its consolation goal in the 80th, but Villa sealed the rout after going on 15 minutes before time when he collected a pass and deftly shot by goalkeeper Miguel Moya.

“We dominated from the start,” said Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez. “We are playing well.”

All eyes on Ronaldo in Seville

Cristiano RonaldoLike it or not, all eyes will be on Cristiano Ronaldo at the Sanchez Pizjuan on Saturday night.

La Liga returns for Jornada 4 after the break for international matches and Real Madrid, with their Portuguese talisman in tow, will face a tricky return to action against Sevilla.

Will he score? Will he celebrate? Will we see a smile or will Ronaldo continued to show his "sadness" if he finds that back of the net in what's been a happy hunting ground for Madrid's number 7 since his arrival in the Spanish capital.

It's the first game in the all-white of Madrid for Ronaldo since his much-discussed comments claiming his sadness at professional issues at the Bernabeu. He scored twice for Los Blancos in a 3-0 win over Granada, their last outing, but didn't raise a smile. He played twice for Portugal during the international break, scoring in their 2-1 against Luxembourg and celebrating with his teammates.

Whether or not his personal problems had been solved before then, or whether his celebrations with his nation simply highlighted they were a club-based problem more than anything else, is yet to be cut and dried, at least in public.

Ronaldo met with Madrid boss Jose Mourinho and club officials this week and he released a statement via his Facebook page claiming that he was ready to return to winning ways with Los Blancos, starting with this weekend's clash against Sevilla.

He said: "I would like to reaffirm, without being concerned about contracts, that my focus is solely on winning every game and every available trophy with the essential company of my teammates and all madridistas."

Nothing too in-depth, then, but with the mention of trophies, Madridistas would like to think they'll see a Cristiano Ronaldo who'll be firing on all cylinders when he's back in La Liga action.

Not good news for Sevilla, then.

Los Rojiblancos are already sick of the sight of the Portuguese star more than most since his arrival in Spain. Most clubs are, but Ronaldo has enjoyed an extraordinary record at the Sánchez Pizjuan. In the last two games he's netted seven, yes seven, goals. An emphatic record to have against any side, not least against a club of Sevilla's standing on their home turf.

Madrid have won 6-2 in their last two league visits to Seville. Ronaldo scored four in the 2010-11 season and a hat-trick in the last campaign.

With a Cristiano Ronaldo who's made the headlines even more than he usually does in recent weeks coming to town, and with all eyes firmly focused on him, you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be searching for another goal haul this time around.

As every game is thanks to the close battle at the top of La Liga between Madrid and Barcelona, Saturday's trip to Andalusia will be crucial for Los Blancos. They're already playing catch-up with Barcelona, who they trail by five points after three matches, and want that gap to narrow, rather than widen, as soon as possible.

The Catalan club play in Madrid two hours before Los Blancos kick-off, with what's now classed as a tricky test at Getafe, the side who beat Mourinho's men earlier this campaign and who edged out Barca on home soil last season. Should Tito Vilanova's side claim all three points in Madrid, that'll pile even more pressure on Los Merengues in Seville.

It's an important weekend, then, for Madrid, especially on the back of an international break. No fewer than nine Madrid senior squad players were away on international duty, some with longer trips than others, so it'll be interesting to see the starting eleven Mourinho fields in his quest for three points.

Nis number 7, slight muscle problems aside, should be one starter. Expect it to be an interesting one...

Real Madrid Teammates Back Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo may still be sad, but he will have little time for moping as his team gears up for a must-win match Saturday (4 p.m. ET) against Sevilla, with the Spanish champion needing to keep the pressure on league leader Barcelona.

After helping Portugal to consecutive victories, Ronaldo quickly reaffirmed his commitment to Madrid 10 days after saying he was "feeling sad" there for professional reasons.
"I would like to reaffirm, without being concerned about contracts, that my focus is solely on winning every game and every available trophy with the essential company of my teammates and all Madridistas," Ronaldo said in a statement on Wednesday, when he trained with his teammates and reportedly sat down with coachJose Mourinho to discuss the situation.
His teammates have come out to support him.
"For Madrid, for the players as much as the fans, it is an authentic pleasure to have Cristiano here. And for Cristiano, it is a luxury to wear the jersey of the best club in the world," said goalkeeper Iker Casillas. "We all benefit. Madrid fans are demanding, but they are that way about everyone."
Madrid is already in a panic as it trails Barcelona by five points after just three games, and Sevilla has a victory and two draws to start the season.
Ronaldo's off-field difficulties remain the talking point of club football in Spain, which has allowed teammate Karim Benzema's poor start to the season to be ignored. The France striker has yet to score through five games, while fellow striker Gonzalo Higuain has been in great form with six goals this season including two with Argentina in World Cup qualifying.
Madrid's irregular start has worried Mourinho, even if his team has won seven straight matches against Sevilla. The pressure is on the Spanish champions to win a 10th Champions League trophy this season, with their first continental match coming on Tuesday against Manchester City.
"If I detect that someone doesn't understand this, as a coach I have means of preventing that," Mourinho said. "For example, if someone reserves themselves in league play with the Champions League in mind, then he may get a surprise and not play in the Champions League."
Barcelona will be without injured playmaker Andres Iniesta for Saturday's match at Getafe, but could welcome midfielder Thiago Alcantara back from an injury that had sidelined him since May. Defender Carles Puyol could also return with a specially designed facemask to protect his broken right cheek.
Getafe has beaten Spain's big two clubs in their past visits to southern Madrid.
"Getafe is a match that was already marked off on the calendar, we lost there last season," said striker David Villa, who was still finding his rhythm after returning from a leg fracture. "I need more minutes. I was sidelined a lot of months, almost eight without competing, and that's a part of the process now. With any other team I would have been playing by now."
Atletico Madrid returns to domestic play following its European Super Cup thrashing of Chelsea, with Radamel Falcao eclipsing Lionel Messi and Ronaldo as Spain's top scorer this season. Falcao has scored six in three games for Atletico -- including a hat trick against Chelsea -- and a pair in World Cup qualifying victories with Colombia.
Unlike Madrid, Atletico coach Diego Simeone appears to have a fully committed squad for Sunday's match at home with crosstown rival Rayo Vallecano.
"What I like most about my team is its compromise, as everything is easy once you have that," said Simeone, who will try to keep Atletico from the usual dip in form that has often cost it a top-four finish. "Individual players will be better when the team is good and knows how to control games."
Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente could play for the first time this season at Espanyol, which has lost its first three games to start the season. Llorente has been kept out of the lineup with his future uncertain until the passing of the transfer deadline, but was also trying to overcome muscle problems to be fit for Sunday's game.
Coming off one of its impressive seasons when it reached both the Europa League and Copa del Rey finals, the Basque club's new season has been mired in near folly sinceJavi Martinez's links and eventual move to Bayern Munich.
Martinez reportedly broke into Bilbao's grounds late Saturday to fetch his personal belongings left behind before his transfer, just adding more off-field distractions to a team that has looked distracted on it.
"He should know the effect of his actions," said forward Iker Muniain. "We've got more important things to worry about than that. I'm ready to take on the responsibility, there comes a moment when you've got to take the ball in those difficult moments. Not just me, there are others too and between us all we have to all move in the right direction."
Jonathan Dos Santos could make his Mallorca debut against Osasuna on Sunday, when Valencia hosts Celta Vigo with both clubs still looking for their first victory of the campaign.
Other fourth-round matches include: Malaga vs. Levante; Granada vs. Deportivo La Coruna; Real Sociedad vs. Zaragoza; and Valladolid vs. Real Betis.
